Student Spotlight: Nour 🌟

It’s always exciting to welcome new potters into the studio, and it’s been such a pleasure to see Nour really embrace the process. She’s only been coming to classes for a month, and already she’s showing a growing confidence and a lovely sense of curiosity with each piece she makes.
Her very first piece was a simple mug with the word Hi and a bright red heart—full of personality, just like her. I didn’t manage to get a photo of it, but it set the tone for what’s followed: thoughtful, creative work with a personal touch.
One of her standout pieces so far is a textured bowl made using the pinch pot method, glazed in a rich turquoise. The form and surface have a quiet beauty to them—it’s the kind of piece you could easily imagine in a gallery shop.
She’s also had a go on the wheel and made a neat little trinket pot in speckled blue. It’s a sweet piece that would make a lovely handmade gift, perfect for holding jewellery or other small treasures.
Then there are the little extras that show her attention to detail—like the small clay hearts she’s made, which could be strung into a delicate, handmade bracelet. And her salt and pepper cellar, made from two pinch pots, is a lovely, practical piece that would sit beautifully on her kitchen or dining table.
It’s clear that Nour has been bitten by the pottery bug. She brings such a positive, thoughtful energy to the studio, and—like me—she seems to have fallen in love with mud and glaze. I really look forward to her sessions and can’t wait to see what she creates next.
