A Teapot, A Market, and a Birthday Surprise
Romsey Market has always been a place of charming encounters — between people, stories, and occasionally, the perfect teapot.
One sunny market day, a young lady wandered past my stall. Her eye caught on a particular teapot — one with a gentle, curving form and hand-painted daisies nestled in a red and green background. She was visibly enchanted by it, pausing to admire it closely, expressing her delight to her boyfriend. But after a lingering moment, she walked on, leaving the pot behind — or so she thought.
A few days later, I received a message from her boyfriend. He had remembered her admiration and secretly arranged to buy it as a surprise birthday gift. I was delighted to help — carefully wrapping the teapot and sending it on its way to London, where I hope it brought joy, not just as a gift, but as a memory of that quiet, shared moment at the market.
For collectors and lovers of teapots, it's often not just the object itself, but the story that comes with it. This one found its home through a little magic, love, and the charm of daisies on a market day.
